Ár gcleachtas aisiríoch / Restorative Practice:
Restorative Practice is a philosophy, a social science. It is a way of ‘being’. Restorative Practice is based primarily on a set of core values and the principles of Fairness, Inclusivity, Engagement, Accountability and Collaboration.
Restorative practices in schools are designed to create a positive school environment by addressing conflicts and repairing harm.
These practices focus on repairing relationships and rebuilding social-emotional skills rather than punishing misbehaviour.

The focus lies around discussions with children in circles on a regular basis. These circles are used to promote healthy relationships, to discuss class topics in a positive manner, to discuss any difficulties within a class, to focus on class behaviour and to examine expectations. When discussing any incident regarding behaviour we use the restorative questions 1-6 below with the relevant parties.
1. Cad a tharla? What happened?
2. Cad air a raibh tú ag smaoineamh ag am? What were you thinking of at the time?
3. Cad a cheapann tú faoi anois? What have you thought about since?
4. Cé hiad na daoine ar chuir d’iompar isteach orthu agus cén chaoi? Who has been affected and in what way?
5. Conas a d’fhéadfaí rudaí a dhéanmh i mbealach difriúil? How could things have been done differently?
6. Cad a cheapann tú gur chóir tarlú anois? What do you think needs to happen next?
